The 2026 FIFA World Cup™ is expected to bring major cultural and economic momentum to Philadelphia, generating a projected $770 million economic impact, a $51 million increase in tax revenue, and more than 6,600 jobs supporting local businesses, workers, and families across the region.
Helping power that effort is Penn Medicine, the Official Medical Services Provider for Philadelphia as it prepares to welcome one of the world’s largest sporting events. More specifically, Penn Medicine is supporting citywide preparations through event partnerships, public activations, and health services designed to help the event leave a lasting positive impact on local communities.
“We’re all extremely excited to see the World Cup come to Philadelphia. Being the Official Medical Services Provider for the Philadelphia World Cup 2026 host city, in what will be the largest sporting event Pennsylvania has ever seen, is a great responsibility that we’re ready and excited for.” – Patrick J. Brennan, MD, Chief Medical Officer, University of Pennsylvania Health System

Penn Medicine’s investment in Philadelphia extends well beyond the World Cup. From community partnerships like the Philadelphia Union community fridge initiative at the Boys & Girls Club of Chester to groundbreaking discoveries like the Philadelphia Chromosome,
Penn Medicine continues to support the health, well-being, and future of communities across the region.
