Philadelphians gathered at the Penn Museum for a day rooted in community, culture, and freedom. Presented by the Penn Museum and The Wharton School, the Penn & Philly: 250 Free Community Day created space for neighbors to celebrate Juneteenth and engage with the people helping shape the city’s future.

Throughout the day, locals were able to connect with and receive health & wellness resources, explore the Museum’s galleries, support Black-owned businesses, and enjoy live performances.

As Philadelphia looks ahead to the nation’s 250th anniversary, the day also served as a reminder that the city’s story is continually being written by the communities who call it home. Through conversations about history, culture, health, and civic engagement, the day honored both the legacy of freedom and the collective work of building a stronger future for Philadelphia.
