More than 130 Philadelphia students toured Lincoln Financial Field and grew their STEM knowledge thanks to a collaboration fostered between Penn’s Engineering Community Outreach Team, the American Heart Association’s STEM Goes Red initiative, and the Philadelphia Eagles. After interactive discussions and robotic demonstrations, students put their skills to the test with a fun challenge to design a free-standing trophy display case for a mini replica of the Eagles’ Super Bowl LII trophy.
“The session was engaging, fun and informative,” said Sarah DeLucas, the organizer of STEM Goes Red. “The students thoroughly enjoyed the program that Penn put together and the useful resources provided.”
“We love working with organizations that strive to create pathways for underrepresented minorities in STEM, especially our Philadelphia K–12 youth,” added Chandra Jefferson, Director of Community Engagement and Outreach at Penn Engineering. “This is a significant part of our outreach mission and vision.”
