Penn Engineering’s GEMS camp started as an initiative to encourage young girls to participate in the sciences, and it has since become a gateway for all students to discover a passion in engineering and related fields. This past summer, middle schoolers in the Philadelphia area spent a week learning leadership and teamwork skills through various hands-on engineering projects. Penn’s programs have expanded into Fife-Penn STEM and Computer Science Academy to provide opportunities for all K–8 students in Philadelphia.
